I have two distinct lives. One in the trenches of low-budget film and television, the other in professional gambling. Because of the feast-or-famine nature of show business I need a reliable income... gambling. So here you will read about both worlds. Enjoy!
Our guest this week is Anthony Curtis, owner of The Las Vegas Advisor and Huntington Press publishing. We discuss the new LVA website, upcoming books, and answer some listener email. .
Our guest this week is Connor Fields. Connor won the 2016 Olympic gold medal for BMX racing. This is likely the only show we will do with a gold medalist unless we can get Charles Barkley on to talk about his gambling stories.
Our guest this week is Greg Raymer, also known as Fossilman. Greg is a professional poker player best known for winning the World Series of Poker main event in 2004.
Our guest this week is Brian Zembic, also known as The Man With the $100,000 Breasts. His story was first told in the book with that title. Basically Brian put in breast implants to win a $100,000 bet. The man who lost the bet, Mike Svobodny told his side of the story in Gambling Wizards. Now we get the story straight from the horse's mouth, and ask him why he still has those implants 20 years later. Near the end of the show we discuss Brian's daughter's playing of the song Toxicity. Here is the link. Toxicity
Our guests this week are two professional blackjack players. In addition to counting cards they exploit casino carnival games, and various casino side bets.
The guest this week is Ed Thorp. the father of modern blackjack. His book Beat the Dealer was the first to discuss card counting, and paved the way for thousands of card counters over the last 50+ years. His new book is A Man For All Markets.
Our guests this week are Max Rubin, Don Johnson and Anthony Curtis. We discuss this year's Blackjack Ball. The Blackjack Ball has been going on for 21 years, and is hosted by Max Rubin. This year Don Johnson was voted into the Blackjack Hall of Fame, and Anthony Curtis won the skills competition. For more details on the Ball see Bob Dancer's article at Gambling With an Edge
Our guests this week are Frank B. and Anthony Curtis. We discuss this week's super bowl, and talk about proposition bets, as well as some good places to watch the game.
On Saturday January 28th 2017 the 21st annual Blackjack Ball was held. Bob will be writing an article next week with the full details of all that went on at the Ball, but I wanted to post this video of a brief speech by Dr Ed Thorp. Dr. Thorp is busy with a promotional tour for his new book, A Man For All Markets, but has agreed to come on Gambling With an Edge in a few weeks.
I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Thorp for his work. His book Beat the Dealer changed my life dramatically, as it did the majority of people in the room that night.
The guest this week is Spencer Robinson. Spencer was a member of one of the largest, and most successful blackjack teams in history. He was also part of the rock band, The Lords of Altamont. Being a rock star is pretty great cover for a blackjack player. Song, Tunica - Music and Lyrics by Spencer Robinson
The guest this week is Zach Elwood. Zach is the author of a new book, Exploiting Poker Tells, which should be out within the next month. You can find more info about Zach and his other books at readingpokertells.com.
This week is a followup to last week's show where we answer questions submitted by our listeners, and talk about some experiences with casino promotions, both good and bad. In addition Anthony Curtis stops by to tell us about the new LVA Members Rewards book.
Our guest this week is Peter Liston, author of Million Dollar Slots which I reviewed here. Review. Peter has made his living playing slot machines for the last 22 years. Yes, that's right, he plays slot machines with an advantage.
The guest this week is Bob Nersesian. Bob is a frequent guest to the show, and always entertaining. Bob is the lawyer who advocates for the players against the casinos, and has successfully sued many Vegas casinos on the behalf of players. His new book is called The Law for Gamblers: A Player's Guide to Legal Survival in the Casino Environment. Today we discuss the Phil Ivey decision in Atlantic City and how this may effect other gamblers.
Our guests this week are Anthony Curtis & Frank B. We talk about Caesars new move to start charging for parking, how they fared in this year's NFL contests, and football betting in general.
This week's guest is Limon. He is a Los Angeles based poker pro and one of the hosts of Live at The Bike. You can find that show at liveatthebike.com. This show was a bit unusual in that while we were recording this for Gambling With an Edge, we were broadcasting live to Limon's audience at liveatthebike.com. We did have some calls at the end of the show that were not included, mainly because Limon hung up on most of the callers for inane questions.
